Older automotive starter, copper from field coils and armature 1.85 pounds. would you say stripping a starter is worth it? i was ganna do one yrs ago but didnt think it was worth the effort.

To get a start with the drill bit, cut a slot into the screw, to save the bit from breaking drill only half ways through as seen on the backside of the shoes shown below. Also there's no need to be dead center, once the hole is drilled force an old screw driver or chisel behind the shoe and it will break free.
Rumor is copper is going to go through the roof, skies the limit.
You made it look to easy lol. Thats not the way i was ganna do it, and i can tell you my way wouldnt have worked to well. But ill give your method a try next starter i come across. I never would have thought that those screws / shoes were clamping the copper inside.
